Attending Your First Appointment

We understand that living with persistent pain can affect every aspect of your life, from work and family life to sleep, mobility and your overall wellbeing. Whether you've been experiencing pain for a few months or many years, our experienced team is here to listen, understand your concerns and work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan.

Our aim is simple, to help you reduce pain, improve function and get back to living life with greater comfort and confidence.

Before Your Appointment

To help us make the most of your consultation, please:

  • Complete any patient registration forms before your appointment.

  • Bring a list of your current medications, including any over-the-counter medicines and supplements.

  • Bring details of any allergies or previous reactions to medication.

  • Bring copies of any MRI scans, CT scans, X-rays or hospital letters if these have not already been shared with us.

  • Wear comfortable clothing, as your consultant may need to examine the affected area.

  • Arrive around 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment.

  • There is free parking available at all of our clinic locations.

What Happens During Your Consultation?

Your first consultation typically lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, allowing plenty of time to understand your condition and discuss the most appropriate treatment options.

Dr Rajan will:

  • Listen carefully to your symptoms and concerns.

  • Discuss when your pain started and how it affects your daily life.

  • Review your medical history and previous treatments.

  • Examine the affected area where appropriate.

  • Review any scans or investigations.

  • Explain the likely cause of your pain in clear, easy-to-understand language.

  • Recommend the most suitable treatment options for your individual circumstances.

Dr Rajan and his team are never rushed, and we encourage you to ask as many questions as you wish.

Do I Have to Have Treatment on the Same Day?

No. Your consultation is an opportunity to understand your condition and explore your treatment options. There is absolutely no obligation to proceed with treatment immediately.

If an injection or procedure is recommended, our team will explain everything clearly and answer any questions before arranging a convenient treatment date.

Preparing for Injection Treatments

If your treatment plan includes an injection or minimally invasive procedure, we will provide clear instructions beforehand.

Depending on the procedure, you may be asked to:

  • Stop certain medications temporarily.

  • Arrange for someone to drive you home.

  • Avoid eating for a short period before treatment.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Our team will provide personalised guidance well in advance of your appointment.

Questions You May Wish to Ask

You may find it helpful to ask:

  • What is causing my pain?

  • Why has previous treatment not worked?

  • Which treatment do you recommend and why?

  • What results can I realistically expect?

  • How quickly might I notice improvement?

  • Are there alternatives if this treatment doesn't work?

  • Will I need further treatment in the future?

After Your Consultation

Before you leave, you will receive a clear explanation of the next steps.

This may include:

  • A written treatment plan.

  • Information about recommended procedures.

  • Details of any follow-up appointments.
