Advancing excellence in patient care across Manchester and Cheshire
At The Manchester Pain Clinic, we’re celebrating an extraordinary milestone for our Lead Consultant, Dr Jonathan (Jonny) Rajan – a moment that not only highlights his professional excellence but also reflects our clinic’s unwavering commitment to helping patients live free from chronic pain.
Following the recent Faculty of Pain Medicine Board meeting, Dr Rajan has become one of the first ten doctors in the UK to be GMC credentialed as a Specialist in Pain Medicine – a prestigious recognition of his expertise, innovation, and dedication to patient care. This credential marks a new era for the field, setting a benchmark for the highest standards in pain medicine practice.
But that’s not all. To coincide with this achievement, Dr Rajan has also been elected onto the Pain Medicine Council of the Royal Society of Medicine, joining a select group of experts who guide the advancement of pain management across the UK.

A Career Built on Compassion, Expertise, and Innovation
Dr Rajan qualified from The University of Edinburgh in 2006 and has since trained in Edinburgh, London, and the North West. He has been practising as a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia since 2015, combining deep clinical knowledge with a human-centred approach to care.
At The Manchester Pain Clinic, Dr Rajan leads a multidisciplinary team that treats patients with a wide range of pain conditions — from chronic back and neck pain to complex nerve and joint pain syndromes. His approach is grounded in understanding that pain is more than a symptom - it’s an experience that affects every part of a person’s life.
By combining advanced medical diagnostics with minimally invasive interventional techniques, Dr Rajan and his team help patients uncover the root cause of their pain and reclaim their quality of life. Treatments include radiofrequency ablation, neuromodulation, coeliac plexus blocks, nerve root blocks, and epidurals — all tailored to each patient’s unique condition and goals.
